The problem
A growing Etsy shop losing a painful slice of every sale to fees, with no customer relationship to show for it — Etsy owned the customer list. A previous attempt at their own site (DIY builder) converted at 0.4%.
What we did
- Migrated 140 products to a fast WooCommerce store with proper category architecture and gift-focused navigation.
- Stripe, PayPal, Klarna and Apple Pay at checkout; UK shipping matrix with free-over-£50 threshold.
- Abandoned-cart recovery (3-email sequence) and post-purchase review requests, fully automated.
- Google Shopping + Meta catalogue feeds from day one; AI-enhanced product photography on hero items.
The results (5 months)
- Store conversion rate: 0.4% → 2.1%
- Abandoned-cart emails now recover 11% of otherwise-lost revenue every month, hands-free.
- Repeat purchase rate up 3× now the customer list is theirs.
- Platform fees saved in year one: projected £4,700+.
"For the first time, the customers are ours. The cart emails alone pay the maintenance plan several times over."
